Looking for words in the text

Enter here words to be looked for in the full text of the documents. You can combine a number of terms using the four text fields:

Find: fill in this field for any text search;

or: search for all documents containing at least one of the terms in the first three fields;

with: search for all documents containing at least one of the terms in the first three fields and the terms in the fourth field.

Practical tips

The search terms must be entered in Dutch.
You can use right or left truncation by adding + to a stem. For example, ‘+zoek’ can be used to search for ‘verzoek’, ‘onderzoek’, etc. and ‘vervoer+’ can be used to search for ‘vervoersrecht’, ‘vervoerbeleid’, etc.
Overheid does not automatically handle plurals or the conjugated forms of verbs; if you want to find the various forms of a word, this has to be done in separate searches.
There is no point in entering articles, prepositions, etc.

Only documents with titles containing the exact word or expression entered will be displayed.

Document type

Enter here the type of document to be found. By default, all types are selected. Unlike the original site, NAT-Lex allows only one choice in this field.

Section in the act

Adds secondary links to specific articles in the document. Only documents containing articles that have the number concerned will be displayed (for example the value ‘2’ may produce ‘1.2’, ‘2.2’, etc.), and links to those articles will be added underneath.

For short documents, the main link and the secondary links all point to the full text of the document, and the secondary links simply add bookmarks to the desired articles. In the case of longer documents, the main link points to a table of contents and the secondary links to the precise sections that contain the desired articles.

NB: the numbering of articles in the documents is very variable, sometimes in arabic numerals and sometimes in roman. It may be worth trying both possibilities.

Validity date

This shows that you are looking for the documents that are in force on the date entered.

It is essential to enter a complete date. By default, the date is set at the day on which the search is made, i.e. you are looking only for documents in force at that time.
