Enter a full title or part of a title to find UK legislation results based on title.

Word(s) in the text

Enter words to be searched for in the full text of the documents. You can combine a number of terms using the four text fields:

Find: search for any of these words. The search will show results that match on any part of the title
or: search for all documents containing at least one of the terms in the first three fields.
with: search for all documents containing at least one of the terms in the first three fields and the terms in the fourth field.

Practical tips

The search terms must be entered in English.
The targeted search engine will find a word in all its various forms e.g a search for ‘fish’ will find ‘fisheries’ and ‘fishing’ etc

Document type

Select the desired type of text from the drop-down menu by clicking on the downward arrow beside the corresponding box. Only one choice can be selected at a time.

Date document signed

Select whether you would like to search across legislation for a particular year or range of years. This is not a required field and can be left empty if you do not wish to narrow your search by year.

All legislation from 1988 – present day is available to search. Most but not all pre-1988 primary and secondary legislation, dating back to 1267 is available to search. Older legislation is being added to make the dataset more complete.
